- 5 qt. popped corn
- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. light syrup
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Spread freshly popped corn in a large, shallow sheet pan.

2Put it in a very slow oven (250°) to keep warm and crisp.

3Combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt in 2 quart heavy saucepan.

4Place over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Continue to boil to the ball stage (248°), about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda; syrup will foam.

5Return to oven for 45 to 50 minutes.

6Stir every 15 minutes.

7Set; let cool.

8Makes 5 quarts.
