- 2 lb. beef chuck, cut into pieces (beef stew)
- 2 c. onions, diced
- 2 c. potatoes, quartered
- 2 c. fresh carrots, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 c. celery, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 can sliced mushrooms
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 5 Tbsp. tapioca
- 3 c. tomato juice
Directions

1Place all ingredients in order given in Dutch oven with tightly fitting lid.

2Bake at 250° for 5 to 6 hours.

3No browning is necessary.

4When done, the gravy will be thick, brown and delicious.
