Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. lard
  • 1/4 c. cold water
  • 1/2 lb. beef sirloin, cubed
  • 1/4 lb. pork steak, cubed
  • 2 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

    Combine first 4 ingredients and add water to moisten the dry ingredients.

    Shape into a ball.

    Toss together meat, potatoes, onion, salt and pepper.

    Divide pastry in half; roll into a circle.

    Put in pie plate, then filling to one side; add butter. Pull pastry over top to opposite side; seal edges tightly. Cut slits in top; bake at 400° for 45 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon water or cream in slits. Reduce heat to 350° for 15 minutes.
