- 3 cups moong dal split yellow
- 5 cups coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons cardamom powder
- 5 tablespoons ghee
- 1 cup cashewnuts and raisins
Directions

1Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add moong dal and roast till it changes color to light brown.

2Add water and cook the dal in pressure cooker.

3Now take another pan. Add jaggery and water. Let it boil.

4Transfer the cooked dal to heavy bottomed pan and smash it properly.

5It should become like paste.

6Now add half of the coconut milk in it.

7Mix it properly.

8Add the jaggery syrup in the moong dal and coconut milk mixture.

9Mix everything well.

10Now transfer this mixture to gas.

11Add some ghee. Let it boil.

12Keep on stirring frequently.

13Now add the remaining coconut milk and continue boiling the mixture.

14Take another vessel. Heat ghee in it.

15Add cashwenuts and raisins.
-
16Fry till they become light brown in colour.
-
17Pour them in the moong dal mixture.
-
18Sprinkle the cardamom and ginger powder and mix everthing well.

19Simmer the payasam on medium-low heat about 20 to 30 minutes, until it reaches thick, creamy consistency. Serve warm or cold.
