  • 5 medium apples
  • 4 peaches
  • 12 cup water
  • 14 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 18 teaspoon ginger
  • brown sugar

    Peel and core apples and cut into chunks.

    Peel and core peaches, and cut into chunks.

    Combine apples, peaches, water, cinnamon, and ginger in a medium saucepan, and place pan over medium heat.

    Cook just until liquid begins to boil, about 5 minutes.

    Reduce heat to low, stir and simmer fruit until soft, adding more water if necessary, for about 10 minutes for a chunky consistency or 15 minutes for a softer consistency.

    Stir in sugar to taste-the amount will depend on the variety and sweetness of the apple-and cook briefly to dissolve the sugar.
