  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 unbeaten egg
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • sugar
  • candy kisses

Directions

    Sift together flour, soda and salt.

    Cream together shortening and peanut butter.

    Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar.

    Add egg, milk and vanilla.

    Beat well.

    Blend in dry ingredients gradually, mixing thoroughly.

    Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar.

    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 375° for 8 minutes.

    Remove cookie sheet from oven; place candy kiss on each cookie so cookie crackers around the edge.

    Return cookies to oven and bake for 2 to 5 minutes longer.
