  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 unbeaten egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 pkg. chocolate candy Kisses

Directions

    Sift together flour, salt and soda. Cream shortening, sugars and peanut butter in a separate bowl. Add egg and vanilla to shortening-sugar mixture. Work in dry ingredients. Shape into teaspoon sized balls and place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Top each cookie with a candy Kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edges. Return to oven and bake 2 to 5 minutes longer.
