  • 4 -5 ripe pears
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 34 cup dried cherries, blueberries or 34 cup raisins
  • 6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine, softened
  • 23 cup all-purpose flour
  • 23 cup rolled oats
  • 23 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 12 cup coarsely chopped pecans or 12 cup walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 12 teaspoon ground allspice or 12 teaspoon nutmeg
  • vanilla ice cream, creme fraiche (optional) or whipped cream (optional)

    Preheat oven to 375* F.

    Halve and core pears; slice about 1/2 inch thick.

    toss with lemon juice.

    Combine pears and dried fruit in a 9 x 13- inch baking dish.

    In a medium bowl, mix butter and flour with a fork or your fingers until crumbly.
