Pear Or Apple Pie

- 6 c. thinly sliced, peeled cooking apples or pears
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- dash of ground nutmeg (omit for pear pie)
- pastry for double crust pie (recipe follows)
- 1 Tbsp. butter
Directions

1If apples or pears lack tartness, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon lemon juice, if desired.

2Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg.

3Add sugar mixture to the sliced apples; toss to coat. Fill a pastry lined 9-inch pie plate with apple or pear mixture. Adjust top crust.

4Seal and flute edge.

5Sprinkle some sugar atop, or brush with milk.

6Cover edge of pastry with foil.

7Bake in a 375° oven for 25 minutes.

8Remove foil; bake for 20 to 25 minutes more, or until crust is golden.

9Cool.
