  • pastry for 1 (9-inch) crust pie
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or oleo
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 oz. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. dark corn syrup
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 oz. pecan halves

Directions

    Prepare pastry and line pie pan; set aside.

    Cream butter with vanilla, then add sugar gradually; mix well.

    Then add eggs in thirds, blending well after each addition.

    Thoroughly blend in chopped pecans along with syrup and salt. Turn into pie shell. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°.

    Arrange pecan halves over top of filling.

    Continue baking 30 to 35 minutes.

    Cool on rack.
