- 1 (10-inch) baked pie shell
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. milk
- 2 c. pecans, ground
- 4 eggs, separated
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Combine 1 1/4 cups sugar and cornstarch.

3Beat egg yolks and 1/4 cup sugar.

4Slowly add sugar and cornstarch mixture to scalded milk, then the egg yolk mixture.

5Stir until thickened.

6Take off heat; add butter and vanilla.

7Let cool. Beat egg whites with 8 tablespoons sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.

8Pour egg yolk mixture into cooled pie shell and top with meringue.

9Bake at 375° until light brown.
