  • 2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Combine sugar, salt and milk.

    Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves and mixture bonds. Continue cooking until soft ball stage (236°).

    Stir frequently after mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat.

    Add butter and vanilla.

    Cool without stirring until lukewarm.

    Add nuts.

    Beat until mixture loses its gloss.

    Pour into buttered 8 x 8-inch pan.

    Cool and cut.
