- 4 lb. chuck roast (bone in)
- 1 c. water
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. pepper
Directions

1Trim all fat and membrane from meat.

2Cut meat into 1-inch cubes.

3Put all ingredients in Dutch oven (covered).

4Bake at 300° for 4 to 5 hours.

5Check after 3 1/2 hours; if too dry, add water. After 4 1/2 to 5 hours use potato masher.

6Meat should look like a spread.

7Serve warm on bread.

8Especially good on party rye.
