Pepperoni Calzones

Ingredients

  • pizza dough
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1 tsp. dried basil leaves
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 8 oz. thin sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 c. green bell pepper
  • 1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten

    Punch down dough.

    Divide into 6 equal parts.

    Roll each part into 7-inch circle on lightly floured surface.

    Mix tomato sauce, mushrooms, basil, oregano and garlic. Spread over half of each circle to within 1-inch of edge. Top with pepperoni, bell pepper and cheese. Fold dough carefully over filling.

    Pinch edges to seal securely.

    Place sandwiches on greased cookie sheet.

    Let rest 15 minutes.

    Heat oven to 375°.

    Brush sandwiches with egg. Bake about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
