- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. yellow corn meal
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1/4 c. salad oil or cooking oil
Directions

1Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.

2Stir in corn meal.

3Add eggs, milk and shortening.

4Beat with rotary or electric mixer until smooth, about 1 minute.

5Pour into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

6Bake in hot oven (425°) for 20 to 25 minutes. For sticks, spoon batter into pans, filling 2/3 full.

7Bake in hot oven at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes or until brown.
