- 1 (1 lb.) can beets, drained
- 1 c. beet liquid
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- whole cloves
- sliced onions
- hard-cooked eggs, peeled
Directions

1Drain beets; set aside.

2Add enough water to beet juice to measure 1 cup.

3Combine beet juice, sugar and vinegar in a saucepan; bring to a slow boil.

4Simmer until sugar is dissolved. Pour syrup over beets in a glass crock or jar.

5Add 5 or 6 whole cloves and onion slices for extra flavor.

6Add eggs to beets and syrup.

7Store in refrigerator.
