Pickled Eggs

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 qt. water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
  • red food coloring
  • 3 doz. eggs, hard-cooked and peeled
  • 3 c. white vinegar
  • 1/2 c. mixed pickling spice, tied in cheesecloth

Directions

    In a large saucepan, combine sugar, vinegar, water, pickling spice and salt.

    Bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes.

    Remove pickling spice and discard.

    Stir food coloring over eggs in jar and cover.

    Refrigerate at least 12 hours. Remove from liquid to serve.
