  • bacon or bacon grease

    Soak beans overnight in large pot.

    Drain and rinse thoroughly.

    Put back in large pot; cover with cold water.

    Add salt and bacon or bacon grease.

    Cook slowly for several hours until tender and nice broth has formed.

    Enjoy with corn bread and onions.
