- 1 pkg. dry yeast or 1 cake yeast
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Crumble yeast in lukewarm water; let stand 5 minutes.

2Pour boiling water over shortening and salt.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Add yeast.

5Add 1/2 of flour; beat until smooth.

6Remaining flour may now be added; beat until smooth.

7Divide dough in half for a thin pizza; use all the dough for a thicker one.

8Place on floured board; pat gently into 1 (13-inch) or 2 (11-inch) rounds.

9Make edge slightly thicker.

10This keeps filling from running over during baking.

11Place on a greased cookie sheet.

12Let rise in warm place (85°) until dough doubles in thickness.

13Arrange filling on top.

14Bake in hot oven at 450° for 25 to 30 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
