Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 egg
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water (110°).

2Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt; cool to lukewarm.

3Add 1 cup flour; beat well.

4Beat in softened yeast and egg.

5Gradually add remaining flour to form soft dough, beating well.

6Cover and let rise in warm place (82°) until double (1 1/2 to 2 hours).

7Turn out on lightly floured surface and shape as desired.

8Shape rolls; let double (25 to 30 minutes).

9Bake in hot oven (400°) for 10 to 12 minutes in greased pans.
