Ingredients

  • 1 lb. chopped shortening
  • 2 lb. raisins
  • 1 lb. currants
  • 1 lb. mixed peel (lemon, orange)
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp. mixed spices
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 8 eggs, well beaten

Directions

    Mix shortening and peel.

    Add flour slowly.

    Add crumbs, spices, sugar and eggs.

    Put into pudding cloth.

    Wrap coins in wax paper and bury in pudding.

    Drop into kettle of boiling water. Boil 5 to 7 hours.

    Serve with Brandy Hard sauce.
