  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. butter
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 pt. sour cream
  • 5 c. flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 2 shot glasses whiskey

Directions

    Mix the buttermilk and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda together and set aside.

    Mix the butter, sugar, eggs and sour cream together and set aside.

    Mix the flour, 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, salt, nutmeg and raisins together and set aside.

    Fold flour mixture into butter mixture.

    Add buttermilk and whiskey.

    Bake at 300° in a greased and floured tube pan for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
