  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. plus 2 tsp. vanilla butternut flavoring
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries

    Cream sugar, shortening and salt well.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Add flavoring; beat well.

    Add flour and milk; end with flour.

    Coat cherries with part of flour.

    Fold in nuts and cherries.

    Grease and flour tube pan.

    Bake at 325° (cold oven) for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

    Do not open oven.

    Remove cake immediately.
