Ingredients
- 25 to 30 small cucumbers
- 2 c. lime (calcium hydroxide)
- 2 gal. water
- 6 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. whole cloves
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 qt. white vinegar
Directions

1Slice cucumbers 1/8-inch thick.

2Dissolve lime in water in a glass, stone or stainless steel container.

3Add cucumbers, being sure that cucumbers are covered with liquid.

4Let stand 24 hours. Rinse well, let stand 3 hours in clear water and drain.

5Mix vinegar, sugar, cloves and salt.

6Pour over cucumbers and let stand overnight.

7Bring to boil, and boil 35 minutes.

8Fill sterilized jars to 1/2-inch of top.

9Seal, boil jars in hot water bath for 5 minutes. Chill pickles before serving.
