- 1 c. shortening
- 1 (12 oz.) can poppy seed filling
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Cream the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

2Add poppy seed filling, then egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Blend in vanilla and sour cream.

4Sift together the flour, soda and salt and add gradually to poppy seed mixture, beating well.

5Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

6Pour into greased 9 or 10-inch pan which has bottom lined with wax paper.

7Bake at 350° for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.

8Cool 5 minutes.

9Confectioners sugar can be sifted on cake.
