Ingredients

  • 1 whole Onion
  • 1/2 whole Fennel
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 pound, 1-23 ounces, weight Ground Pork (pork Mince)
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Pepper
  • 2 strips Puff Pastry
  • 1/4 cups Milk (to Brush Pastry)

Directions

  1. 1
I made the best homemade sausage rolls by accident.
  2. 2
Slice up the onion and fennel and slowly cook it in the butter.
  3. 3
Once the onion/fennel is cooked, set aside and cool.
  4. 4
Add the cool cooked onion/fennel to the ground pork meat (pork mince) and season with salt and pepper.
  5. 5
Defrost the puff pastry and cut in half.
  6. 6
Divide pork mixture into 4 portions and roll out into sausage lengths, the same as the pastry sheets.
  7. 7
Place the meat on the edge of the puff pastry and roll the pastry until the pastry edges meet.
  8. 8
Brush the outside of the puff pastry with milk.
  9. 9
Place on a oven tray and bake until cook, roughly 30 minutes, until golden brown in a moderate oven (around 350 degrees).
  10. 10
    These little beauties taste wonderful.
  11. 11
The pork and fennel are a match made in food heaven.
