- 4 potatoes
- 1 tsp. chopped ginger root
- 1/3 to 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp. cumin
- 1 1/2 c. besan (chick pea flour)
- 1/3 c. water
- 1/3 c. yogurt
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric
- pinch of soda
Directions

1Cook potatoes, peel and mash adding first 3 ingredients.

2Make up a batter with the rest of the ingredients.

3Heat oil about 2 inches deep and form walnut-size balls of the mashed potato mix; dip in batter and fry.

4Drain and serve with catsup or chutney.
