- 3 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. lemon juice (optional)
- 1/3 c. Crisco
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. half and half
- 2 sticks butter
- 3 c. unsifted flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 6 eggs (room temperature)
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Directions

1Cream the sugar, butter and Crisco together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating good after each one.

2Add flour and half and half alternately, ending with flour.

3Add baking powder, salt and vanilla. Beat well.

4Pour into greased and floured tube pan (makes one big cake).

5Put in cold oven at 325° for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

6Watch after 1 hour.

7My oven cooks fast and it only takes 1 hour and 20 minutes.
