  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 2 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. butternut flavoring (coconut is also good)

    Cream the sugar, Crisco and eggs.

    Egg do better when beaten separately, then added to creamed mixture.

    The cake will rise higher.

    Sift in the 2 kinds of flour.

    Add milk, alternating flour and milk.

    Add flavoring.

    Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes at 350° in tube pan.
