- 1/2 lb. country butter
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 7 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon
- 3 c. plain flour, sifted
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 c. sweet milk
Directions

1Cream butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add lemon and vanilla extract and blend well. Add eggs one at a time and continue beating after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; Add alternate to cream mixture with milk. Pour into large tube pan. Bake in 325° oven for 1 1/2 hours, or until cake tests done.
