  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 c. shortening or butter
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (omit if butter is used)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp. soda

Directions

    Beat egg whites until stiff and set aside.

    Cream shortening or butter and sugar.

    Add egg yolks, flour, salt, vanilla, buttermilk and soda.

    Fold egg whites into mixture and bake at 350°

    for about an hour.
