Pretzel Salad

  • 2 c. crushed pretzels
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry jello
  • 3/4 c. melted margarine
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip
  • 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen sliced strawberries

    Pretzels should not be crushed too fine.

    Allow some very small pieces to remain for crunch.

    A good way to crush them is to put pretzels into strong plastic bag and press firmly with rolling pin. Mix together pretzel crumbs, margarine and sugar and press into a 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake at 400° for JUST eight minutes, NO LONGER! Let cool.

    Beat cream cheese with 1 cup sugar until well combined. Stir in Cool Whip and spread on cooled pretzel crust.

    Dissolve jello in boiling water, then stir in frozen strawberries.

    Let this mixture stand for 10 minutes.

    Pour on top of cheese mixture and chill.
