  • 1 c. Wesson or Crisco oil
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. each salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. cooked prunes, pitted and mashed
  • 1 c. pecans or black walnuts, chopped
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Sift flour, sugar, salt and spices into mixing bowl.

    Add oil and buttermilk.

    Mix and add eggs; dissolve soda in mashed prunes and fold into batter.

    Mix in nuts and vanilla.

    Bake in 350° oven in tube pans about 45 minutes or 2 (9-inch) layer pans for 30 to 35 minutes, or until tested done.

    Pans are to be greased and floured.

    Frost with Raisin Pecan Frosting.
