- 16 oz. canned prunes (reserve juice)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. brown or white sugar
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Drain prunes; save liquid.

2Add enough water to make 1/2 cup liquid.

3Combine with buttermilk; set aside.

4Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and wheat flour.

5Combine prunes, nuts and 1 cup of dry ingredients.
