  • 1 can (1 lb.) sliced beets
  • 1/2 c. Heinz vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings (optional)

    Drain beets reserving 3/4 cup liquid.

    Combine beet liquid with vinegar and next 4 ingredients in saucepan.

    Bring to boil; pour over beets.

    Refrigerate overnight in covered bowl.

    Onion may be added just before serving.
