  • 2 cups raisins
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 12 teaspoon salt

Directions

    Mix the raisins, baking soda, and the boiling water.

    Cover, and let stand until cooled, about 1 hour.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Lightly grease two 4x8 inch loaf pans.

    In a medium bowl, mix the raisin mixture with the oil, flour, sugars, and salt, and mix well.

    Pour mixture evenly into the 2 prepared pans, and bake until browned, approximately 1 hour.
