- 1 lb. raisins
- 2 c. water
- 1/2 c. melted butter
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1/2 tsp. each: nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 c. sifted flour
- dash of salt
- 1 c. cool water
- 1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. hot water
Directions

1Stew raisins in 2 cups water for 15 minutes; let cool.

2Cream together melted butter, egg, oil, spices, sugar, flour, salt and cool water.

3Add cooled raisins and baking soda mixture.

4Bake in greased 13 x 9-inch pan for approximately 1 hour at 350°.
