- 2/3 c. raisins (optional)
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 3 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions

1Combine raisins, milk, sugar, salt, shortening and cornmeal in bowl.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to mixture.

3Add egg and flour.

4Blend well.

5Drop by spoonfuls into a well-greased 11-inch oblong baking pan.

6Let rise 45 minutes or until doubled in size.

7Bake in a preheated oven at 400° for about 20 minutes. Serve hot with butter or jam.
