"Ravani" - Syrup Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. oil (any kind)
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. milk
  • grated lemon rind from 1 lemon
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. cake flour

Directions

    Beat eggs with oil and sugar until light, 15 to 20 minutes. Mix dry ingredients with cake flour and add to beaten eggs alternately with milk.

    Add the vanilla and beat until well mixed. Put in 12 x 9-inch pan and bake in 325° oven for 40 to 45 minutes.

    Pour cold syrup over hot cake or cool the cake and pour hot syrup on it.

    When completely cold, cut into pieces and serve.
