Ingredients

  • 1 lb. peas
  • 2 qt. water
  • 1 lb. sweet potatoes, yams or tania, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 lb. cooking ham
  • 1/2 lb. pumpkin, peeled and cubed
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 lb. pigs feet
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • 2 sprigs celery, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 whole tomatoes or 1 can tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar (optional)

Directions

    Soak meat to remove excess salt.

    Wash peas.

    Cook meat and peas in 2 quarts of water until both are soft.

    Add all other ingredients.

    Cook until tender.

    Add dumplings at your final 10 minutes.
