  • enough cucumbers to make a gal.
  • 4 Tbsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. alum
  • vinegar
  • 4 Tbsp. pickling spice
  • 8 c. sugar

Directions

    Cut ends off cucumbers, pack in a gallon jar.

    Put in the salt, pickling spice and alum.
  3. 3
    Fill with cold vinegar and let stand 16 days.
  4. 4
    After 16 days, empty and wash cucumbers and slice, then pack back into the jar.
  5. 5
    Add the sugar, let stand 24 hours. Refrigerate and eat.
  6. 6
    Keep them in refrigerator at all times.
