  • 4 pounds cucumbers, peeled and sliced
  • 4 tablespoons pickling salt
  • 1 - 1/2 teaspoons mustard seed
  • 3/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon alum
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 - 1/2 cups white vinegar

    In large bowl combine salt, mustard seed, celery seed, onion, sugar, and white vinegar. Put pickles in jars, cover with vinegar mixture. Put in refrigerator. Keeps for 2 weeks.
