Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. milk, scalded
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening (I prefer melted margarine)
- 2 c. flour
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1In a small bowl measure lukewarm water and yeast.

2Let stand 5 to 10 minutes, until yeast is dissolved.

3To the milk add sugar, salt and shortening.

4Cool to lukewarm.

5Add and stir in about 2 cups flour; beat until smooth.

6Add egg and softened yeast.

7Add and stir in about 2 1/2 cups more of flour.

8It may take more. Turn dough out on lightly floured board; knead until smooth and satiny.

9Place in a greased bowl and brush top with margarine.

10Let rise in a warm place, free from drafts, until double in size (about 1 1/2 hours).

11Form rolls and let rise until double in size.

12Bake at 425° for 15 to 20 minutes.
