Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast (RapidRise)
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine, soft
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1/4 c. Thousand Island dressing
  • 6 oz. corned beef (thin slice)
  • 1/4 lb. sliced Swiss cheese
  • 1 (8 oz.) sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • caraway seed (optional)

Directions

    Set aside 1 cup flour.

    In a large bowl, mix remaining flour (2 1/4 cups), sugar, salt and yeast.

    Stir in hot water and margarine.

    Mix in only enough reserved flour to make dough soft. On floured surface, knead 4 minutes.

    On greased baking sheet roll dough to 14

    x 10-inch.

    Spread dressing down center 1/3 of dough.

    Top with beef, cheese and sauerkraut.

    Cut 1-inch wide strips along sides of filling out to dough edges.

    Alternating sides, fold strips at angle across filling.

    Cover loaf and place pan over 1/2 filled shallow pan of boiling water for 15 minutes. Brush with egg white and sprinkle seed.

    Bake at 400° for 25 minutes or until done.

    Refrigerate leftovers.
