- 1 c. white sugar
- 2 tsp. melted shortening
- 1 c. sour milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. diced rhubarb
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar.

2Add egg.

3Stir in sour milk. Sift all the dry ingredients.

4Combine two mixtures, creating a cake batter.

5Fold in 2 cups rhubarb.

6Pour into 9 x 12-inch baking pan.

7Sprinkle with brown sugar and dot with butter.

8Bake in moderate (350°) oven for 30 minutes.

9Serve hot or cold.
