  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 1 large onion, chopped 1 1/2 c. long grain rice (not Minute)
  • 1 can beef consomme
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 1 can water
  • 1 can water chestnuts, sliced and drained
  • 1 can mushrooms, drained

Directions

    Saute onion and rice in margarine until brown.

    Put in 2 1/2-quart casserole dish with other ingredients.

    Combine well. Cover and cook one hour at 350°.

    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
