- 1 c. rice (or 1/2 c. wild rice), rinsed well
- 2 Tbsp. oleo or oil
- beef or chicken soup base or bouillon
- chopped onion or chives to taste
- mushrooms to taste
- green pepper to taste
- hot peppers to taste
- pimento to taste
- celery to taste
Directions

1Brown rice in oleo.

2Stir often to keep from burning.

3Add onion, chives, celery or green pepper and saute lightly.

4Add about 2 cups water soup base and any other ingredients you choose. Simmer until water is gone about 15 to 20 minutes.

5Serve with beef or chicken instead of potatoes.
