Rich Brown Steak Dinner

  • 2 lb. round steak, cut into 1-inch wide slices
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • flour
  • 6 medium onions, sliced
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and halved
  • 1 can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 pkg. frozen French-cut green beans

Directions

    Season meat with salt and pepper; roll in flour.

    Cook onions in hot shortening until tender, but not brown.

    Remove onions and brown meat slowly on both sides.

    Place meat in a 3-quart casserole.

    Add onions, potatoes and bay leaf.

    Pour soup on top. Cover and bake at 350° for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

    Add frozen green beans and bake 15 minutes more.
