- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. butter
- 1/2 c. cream
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1/4 c. currants
Directions

1Combine flour, salt, baking powder and sugar in a bowl.

2Cut in the butter with a pastry blender, or rub in with fingertips. Mix in egg and cream with a fork.

3Stir in currants.

4Turn dough out on a lightly floured board and pat out in a circle about 1/2-inch thick.

5Cut in wedges.

6Brush tops with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar.

7Bake at 400° for 15 to 18 minutes.
