Directions

   Bring 1 cup of water to hard boil.

   Turn off heat.

   Add sugar, stir until all is disolved.

   Set aside to cool.

   Tie a string around the middle of a pencil,*, rest pencil on top of a 1 quart canning jar letting the string hang into the glass, almost touching bottom.

   Pour sugar solution into jar.

   Set the jar in a warm place where it can sit undisterbed for at least 1 week.

   Watch as crystals begin to form in about a week.
